W Connection was created by widows, for widows. We know first-hand that in addition to all our grief and pain, finding new strategies, support, and understanding is indispensable as we strive to re-imagine and re-build our lives.

Our programs are created understanding that there is no timeline for a widow, but there is a journey for our members. We created programs for insight, support and connection –to support these needs.  You choose  program(s) that resonate for you based on where you are on your journey.

Our Peer-Led Support TOPIC Meetings are geared towards newer widows who are feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of their loss.

These meetings are facilitated by trained peer volunteers in a safe and confidential environment and are meant to help us find new tools and strategies for confronting the challenges of widowhood –including Leveraging Your Character Strengths, Building Your Resilience, Overcoming Loneliness, Processing Grief, Anger, Guilt. Post Traumatic Growth, Rediscovering Our Identities. We offer the same topic discussion at least 5 times each month with a rotating group of peer-co-hosts.

One meeting each month is specifically geared to Young Widows.

In this month’s topic meetings, we will learn how to Understand and Leverage our Character Strengths

Researchers have determined the 24 different character strengths that we each possess–in varying degrees.  As we navigate widowhood, we might not realize how much we rely on these character strengths as we try to move forward.  Have you ever taken a serious inner look at your own individual character strengths?

In this month’s Topic Meetings, our facilitators will share this research, prompt you to learn your own character strengths and explore how best to leverage them to help you rebuild your life..

In preparation for these meetings, our Topic Committee volunteers suggest that you bring paper and pen to the meetings.

Our W Chats are geared towards widows who are further along their journeys.  They are proud that they are moving forward and ready to reinvent and reimagine their futures.

Re-Igniting and Embracing our Character Strengths

In our Topic Meetings this month, our discussions focus on identifying our character strengths in order to leverage them as we begin to move forward.

In this W Chat, we take this discussion to the next step. For those of us further along in our journeys — as we feel positive emotions re-emerging — we can begin to embrace our character strengths as we re-imagine and rebuild our futures.

How are you reconnecting with your positive character strengths?  How are they empowering you in unexpected and delightful ways?

We ask that members who have some experience and personal insights/ successes about embodying their character strengths– as well as members looking for some inspiration and ideas!

W Chat occurs the third Tuesday of every month at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00pm PM PT.
