W Connection was created by widows, for widows. We know first-hand that in addition to all our grief and pain, finding new strategies, support, and understanding is indispensable as we strive to take steps to move forward.

Our widow support programs are created understanding that there is no timeline for a widow, but there is a journey. We created programs for insight, support and connection –to support these needs and help you re-build your life.

You choose the program(s) that resonates with you based on where you are on your journey.

Peer-Led Support TOPIC Meetings

Peer-Led Support TOPIC Meetings are held in a safe and confidential environment.  These are widow to widow support groups that focus on a topic to help you Confront the Challenges you face as a widow and help you find Strategies for Rebuilding Your Life –including Overcoming Loneliness, Processing Grief, Anger, Guilt. Leveraging Your Character Strengths, Building Your Resilience, Rediscovering Your Identity and Post Traumatic Growth.

In January, we help one another learn that struggling with grief and fostering hope are not mutually exclusive.

In February, we help one another learn how to navigate the difficult emotions we undoubtedly experience as widows –guilt, anger, fear, envy.  These emotions are valid, intense and real and part of our journey is learning how to acknowledge them and move forward.

Peer-led topic meetings are held weekly, with one meeting each month specifically geared to Young Widows.

Peer-Led Support Topic Meetings are part of your membership, there is no additional charge.

W Chat is geared for members who are further along on their journey and ready to Reinvent and Reimagine their futures.

W Chat is led by trained widowed facilitators and builds upon our monthly topic.

In January, we are choosing hope–and even embracing it again!  We will exchange ideas drawn on our own experiences– aimed to inspire, encourage, and empower us all as we embrace hope again.

Sometimes joy, laughter, and other positive emotions can be a difficult for widows to express. In February’s W Chat, we learn how to give ourselves permission to experience and embrace positive emotion.

W Chats occurs the third Tuesday of every month at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00pm PM PT.

Wellness Webinars & Workshops

Our Wellness Webinars and Workshops are developed understanding the resources widows need and focused on the health and wellness needs of our membership. The Webinars are led by experts in their fields. The Workshops showcase the healing strategies practiced and demonstrated by our own members.  Past subjects have included Your Brain on Grief, Mindfulness, Yoga & Strength, Physical Health & the Widow, and Financial Strategies for Widows.

The W Connection’s Webinar Committee is excited to welcome Ana Leilani Ka’ahanui, Co-Founder of the DC metro area nonprofit Capital Nature. Her organization’s mission is to connect people to the abundance of nature. She is a forest bathing guide and devoted to sharing this nature-based mindfulness practice. Ana is passionate about using the natural and built environment as a tool for learning and healing. Her favorite word is “wonder.”

Please join us as Ana discusses the powerful impact of nature on healing and how Forest Bathing, an ancient Japanese technique, can be easily introduced into our daily lives to connect, reflect, and heal.

Ana was our W Connection Forest Bathing Guide during our 15-year celebration in DC.  We loved this event and asked her to talk with our extended community about understanding our natural world.
