GENERAL MEETINGS & EVENTS
W Connection was created by widows, for widows. We know first-hand that in addition to all our grief and pain, finding new strategies, support, and understanding is indispensable as we strive to re-imagine and re-build our lives.
Our widow support programs are created understanding that there is no timeline for a widow, but there is a journey for our members. We created programs for insight, support and connection –to support these needs. You choose the program(s) that resonate for you based on where you are on your journey.
Peer-Led Support TOPIC Meetings
Not a W Connection member, but want to join us for this meaningful discussion?
JOIN TODAYOur Peer-Led Support TOPIC Meetings are widow support groups geared towards widows who are feeling overwhelmed by the enormity of their loss.
These meetings are facilitated by trained peer volunteers in a safe and confidential environment and are meant to help us find new tools and strategies for confronting the challenges of widowhood –including Leveraging Your Character Strengths, Building Your Resilience, Overcoming Loneliness, Processing Grief, Anger, Guilt. Post Traumatic Growth, Rediscovering Our Identities. We offer the same topic discussion at least 5 times each month with a rotating group of peer-co-hosts.
One meeting each month is specifically geared to Young Widows.
In this month’s widow support group meeting, we will recognize the strength and “Resilience“ that our members have shown.
The American Psychiatric Association defines resilience as the process of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences by altering behaviors, thoughts, and actions that anyone can learn.
While there is no playbook for grief, we have seen members build resilience and grow through their grief by building connections, fostering wellness, healthy thinking, taking control, finding purpose or meaning, and seeking help when needed.

Not a W Connection member, but want to chat with girlfriends who get it?
JOIN TODAYOur W Chats are our Widow to Widow Support Groups geared towards women who are further along their journeys. They are proud that they are moving forward and ready to reinvent and reimagine their futures.
In this month’s W Chat, we will continue with our monthly theme of Resilience and focus on the concept that resilience is “not about overcoming but becoming” and ask..
- How does this relate to your journey?
- Have you found purpose or meaning and how has it impacted your journey?

The W Connection’s Webinar Committee is excited to welcome Phyllis Stoller, a pioneer in travel for solo/single women and their unique needs. Phyllis specializes in travel services for women, smart tours with speakers and insightful itineraries. She believes women should have the opportunity to immerse themselves into the culture of a place with time to process the beauty of travel.
She believes travel can enhance a woman’s confidence and kick-start a love of learning and new friendships. This might be just the webinar you need to take that first step to attend our 15 year anniversary celebration in DC.
Phyllis was honored to receive the award as top in women’s travel from Travel & Leisure Magazine and other travel-related sources. Phyllis has appeared on CNN, The Today Show, Lifetime for Women, in much print, and on tv and radio. Arthur Frommer called her trips ‘colorful’ and an asset for women who love to travel.
Phyllis Stoller has a BA from Tufts University, MA from New York University and a Finance Degree from the University of the South Bank, London, England. Before starting her tour company for women: The Women’s Travel Group, Phyllis was an international banker. It was during her ten banking years that she began to travel solo and found it intimidating, and sometimes difficult.

by Natalie Jenner
Natalie Jenner, an internationally bestselling author, engages her audience with a compelling and heartwarming story of post-war London, a century-old bookstore, and three women determined to find their way in a fast-changing world.
Bloomsbury Books is an old-fashioned new and rare book store that has persisted and resisted change for a hundred years, run by men guided by the general manager’s unbreakable rules. But in 1950, the world is changing, especially the world of books and publishing, and at Bloomsbury Books, the women in the shop have plans.
Purchase the book with this link and W Connection will receive a donation.
Our W Book Club occurs every 6 weeks.
